OVERAL!?! -Alphonse Elric is very different from his older and more temperamental brother, Edward Elric. Of the two Al is the more mature and more compassionate one. The boy is just as bright as his brother {Ed is still a bit more intelligent than Al}, and his martial arts skills surpass his brother’s. Al doesn’t boast or solve things through his fists though. He is very humble and sincere. He almost abhors violence. He is a pacifist through and through. He doesn’t care one bit about violence, and he would rather not resort to that. His temper hardly ever flares up, but he also says that Ed blows up before he can.
Al isn’t all sunshine and daises though. There are darker parts to his personality. Sure, he does have a sunny outlook and loads of compassion. He is also patient and passive. The exact opposite of his fiery brother. But Al is also protective and selfless. His protective nature is a fault though since he tends to protect enemies along with allies. The boy also has darker thoughts behind his cheerful persona. He carries the weight of his tragedies of his past. He longs for the warmth he felt before. He also frets over his existence. He sometimes isn’t sure if he really existed. The boy also believes that he was the cause of the failed attempt at reviving his mother. He carries all this within his kind heart.
Al is just as passionate as his brother, but his passive nature keeps him from exploding like his brother. He is also very fond of cats and women. Cats because he misses warmth and affection. Women because he has always been very sensitive. In face he prefers to be seen as a child, and he loves to show affection. Al is also very good at inspirational speeches {even better than Edward}. The boy prefers to be in the company of people like May Chang, Riza Hawkeye, Lan Fan, and Sheska. He will also only let cats and women inside his armor.
Alphonse is overall a very compassionate person. He does have his faults just like everyone else. Some of his faults are even usually considered to be good traits in people. With Al they are the exact opposite just like Al is the exact opposite of his brother whom he is always worried about.

EYES!?! -In his human form Al had golden eyes. The same color as his older brother, Edward. His eyes were rounder though, but they are also set into a broader face. Al more closely resembles Trisha.
HAIR!?! -Al’s hair was a golden-blonde color just like Ed’s. His hair was kept short and neat with a part to the left. While in the gate his hair grew longer. Before getting back his body, Al’s hair was past his shoulders in the back and growing down over the right side of his face all the way to his collarbone.
FACE!?! -Al’s human face was broader than Edward’s. He more closely resembled Trisha with his rounder eyes, but his hair was the same color as Ed’s and Van’s.
Al’s current face is a helmet that is adorned with a large, conical horn in the middle of the forehead, has a pair of parallel, horizontal vents beneath each half-moon eye hole and a fang motif just above the protruding chin. The top of the helmet also sports a ribbon of white hair that hangs down to the small of the suit's back.
BODY!?! -Even before Al became a suit of armor he was taller than his older brother. Now, he towers over his brother. Al had once looked normal with slightly tanned skin and human figure. Now, Al’s skin is the color of steel. His rock hard and covered in plates. He doesn’t really have a figure or body. His soul is attached to armor by the seal of Ed’s blood. Al’s really body is in the gate slowly withering down in size.
UNUSUAL!?! -N/A
OVERAL!?! -Al was once human, but he is now nothing more than a soul. A soul that was attached to armor. His armor is the color of steel and very resilient. The trunk of the body also consists of a removable breastplate with a protruding, triangular shelf on the chest just below the throat guard, a high collar that extends out of the back and surrounds the rear and sides of the neck, and a large, circular leather patch on either side of the abdomen. A light blue breechcloth covers the groin and painted on the left shoulder is a red Flamel, signifying Alphonse's tutelage under the master alchemist Izumi Curtis. Al's armor body also appears to have a triple spike motif, as each shoulder is adorned with a trio of large conical spikes lined in a row and each elbow, knee and foot carries small spiky protrusions as well. Al also appears to have a white band around his right leg which holds up a small weapons holster.
Inside the armor is a white cloth. This cloth is usually used to protect whomever resides in the armor. Nothing resides in Al’s armor. Sometimes a cat or woman will be placed inside, but it is usually empty. The cloth is therefore used to hide the symbol that keeps Al’s soul connected to the armor. Without that seal the armor would be lifeless and Al would be gone.
MOTHER!?! -
FATHER!?! -
SIBLINGS!?! -
IMPORTANT!?! -
FINALLY!?! -Alphonse Elric was born in the year 1900 to Trisha Elric and Van Hohenheim. He was born in a little town known as Resembool. In contrast to later years the first years of Al’s life were peaceful. There were small things like Edward’s abuse and Hohenheim’s disappearance, but the family was altogether still happy. Al was pretty much as happy as he could possibly be with his mother and brother around. Their skill for alchemy was shown in this early part of their life. Even then they were skilled little alchemists.
Things changed for the Elric family in 1904. Trisha Elric contracted an illness that eventually spread and killed her. Thus leaving Edward and Alphonse alone. The youngest of the two was devastated by the loss. He worried constantly over whether he and Edward would survive. Edward eventually gave him a twisted hope in the form of Human Transmutation. It was a way to bring back their mother, but it had a large price attached to it.
The two devoted themselves to studying and practicing alchemy after Ed presented the idea of using Human Transmutation. At that time they were living through support from their childhood friend, Winry, and her grandmother, Pinako. The two ran an automail shop not far from the Elric household. In those early years after their mother’s death the two absorbed everything they could about alchemy. Everything they needed to resurrect their mother, but it didn’t take them long to realize that they couldn’t get very far on their own. They needed help.
Help came to the pair in the form of Izumi Curtis. They had the luck to meet her in Resembool. With a great deal of persuasion the alchemist agreed to train the two if they passed a preliminary test. The two were taken from Resembool to the south to Yock Island. Izumi left the two there for a month. When she came back the boys were to tell her the definition of ‘one is all and all is one.’ If they could correctly explain it then she would take them under her wings.
The island taught the boys a lot. They learned self-reliance and many new skills. Skills needed to survive and fend off Izumi’s employee, Mason’s, attacks. By the end of the month the boys were able to explain ‘one is all and all is one.’ The concept basically states that they, as humans, are but a small part of the world and universe as a whole, but that the world and universe cannot exist without a collective of small parts. The two were able to completely grasp the concept, so Izumi took them under her wings.
For the next five months the boys trained with Izumi. They learned many new things from their teacher. They grew both mentally and physically from her intensive alchemy and martial arts training. Their knowledge of alchemy was furthered even more by the time they returned to Resembool. Before they left Izumi warned them that death is an irreversible part of the flow of the world and that acceptance of such is important to the ‘One is All and All is One’ concept. The boys didn’t heed her warning and immediately dove head first back into their resurrection research.
The two boys gathered everything they needed: a Human Transmutation Circle, the elemental ingredients for an adult human body, and their own blood and soul as the biological data. The boys secretly began their resurrection. Sadly, their efforts resorted in a Rebound, and the two were pulled into the gate. There the two meet Truth, and Alphonse was forced into the stream of the Gate’s vast alchemical knowledge. The young boy was forced to watch as the mysterious being, Truth, stripped him of his physical body because of his unwanted passage into God’s domain.
Alphonse then returned to the human dimension. His soul was left without a body, and his soul attached itself to the inhuman creature that he and Edward had created. The creature was unable to sustain life though and died. Thus allowing Alphonse’s soul to wonder free and toward the other side.
The next time Alphonse awoke his soul was attached to an antique suit of armor. This time his soul had been bound alchemically by his brother with a Blood Rune. This was when Al found out that Ed had lost his right arm and left leg. Fortunately, Al’s memories of the Gate were erased because of trauma. The Truth and his existence in the failed body had been repressed.
Edward had been sitting in a pool of his own blood. Al was in a panic. In his rush he called the Rockbells’ house. The boy begged Pinako to save Ed. That night Edward was saved, but Al discovered something very disheartening. He could no longer feel or sleep. He was thus isolated from the rest of the world. This discovery led to him feeling detached.
The two stayed with the Rockbells until they were visited by officer Cian Byrne. Byrne had come to ask Edward to join the State Alchemist program. The man was able to promise that the two would be able to find a way to restore their bodies using the system. Thus Edward took on the operation to get automail, and a year later Al’s older brother became a state alchemist.
On October 3rd of 1911, the two burnt down their family house and left Resembool on a journey to restore their bodies.

Role Play SampleShou yawned slightly as he stood outside of mall. Two friends of his were supposed to arrive any minute now, but they were already about thirty minutes late. The young rabbit was tired of waiting for them. Another yawn forced the rabbit’s small mouth open. He drew lots of ‘aw’s and ‘he’s so cute’ from the passing girls, but he ignored them. Paying attention to them only caused them to approach, and the blunette didn’t want that. Not one bit. A frown settled onto his face as he pulled out his cell phone. His friends were about forty-five minutes late now. They were the ones that set up the trip and forced Shou to come along, and then they had the audacity to be late. ”Where are you two? You promised to be here a while ago.” The young teen’s voice filled the small space around him. It made him feel slightly less alone, but he still felt isolated.
The boy sighed and leaned his head back against the brick of the large building. The mall was a good place to hang out, but it wasn’t any fun alone. Being alone sucked out all the fun in doing something. Another short and inaudible sigh passed through the blunette’s pale lips. His one golden eye was trained on the crowds searching for his two friends, Tadase and Nagihiko. No matter how hard he looked though, he couldn’t find the blonde or other blunette. It was frustrating. The Hiroshi really had no reason to be at the mall. He could have been helping Ryuu-nii out or searching for another family member to play with. Another sigh racked his petite body as a voice reached his ears. ”SHOU!”
One golden eye widened happily as a blonde and blunette approached him from the crowd that seemed larger than normal. A frown was now on the boy’s pale features as his friends came to a halt before him. His cell phone was forgotten in his hand as he watched the two with a narrowed eye and slightly mad-looking frown on his pale face. ”Sorry, Shou. We didn’t mean to be late.” The voice that reached Shou’s ears belonged to Nagihiko, the other blunette. His words were soft, and his breathing was hard. The same held true for Tadase. Shou just sighed and tucked his phone back into his pocket.
”Since you’re finally here… let’s go!” Excitement seemed to ooze off the petite blunette now as he pushed himself off the building. His friends were here, and the mall didn’t seem as daunting anymore. No, the sun didn’t look brighter, and the grass didn’t look greener. The day just seemed to be abuzz with life now. His two friends glanced at each other before hurrying after the small rabbit.
Shou lead the way through the maze-like building. Stores with wonderful items stood out while ones with horrible items faded into the background. All the waiting the rabbit had done resulted in his stomach being empty. His friends had a hard time keeping up with the overexcited bunny has he pushed his way through the thickening crowd. With each step they took the crowd seemed to get bigger and harder to move through. It was slowly growing hotter and hotter. The mass of all the people around was suffocating. The rabbit would have been in hysterics if he had claustrophobia. Good thing he didn’t.
Shou’s movement halted as a loud voice assaulted his ears. The rabbit wasn’t fond of concerts, and now that he looked he could see a stage set up. A frown replaced the grin that had once stretched across his face. Tadase and Nagihiko had finally caught up to him again. ”Do you want to come back later?” The blunette could barely hear Nagihiko’s words over the crowd. He just shook his head and started to push his way through the crowd again.
The next sound besides screaming that filled Shou’s hears was a violin. It was a wonderful sound, and it stopped the boy again. He remembered hearing someone else play something like that before. It had been when he was sneaking around one time. It had been the day he followed around the rat and the cat. A small smile once again danced onto his face. That day had been amazing. His spying led him to hearing the cat play, and play the cat did. It had been amazing. The boy still wished that he could hear it again.
One golden eye turned back to the stage. On the stage stood a teenage-looking boy. His blue hair seemed to glow in the spotlights. The smile on Shou’s face twisted downward. The other boy was wearing sunglasses. At the distance Shou stood from the stage, the blunette couldn’t make out if the older boy was Kukai or not. He would have to investigate. His golden eye darted over to Tadase and Nagihiko. The two were discussing what to get about a foot away. ’Perfect.’ Without another look at his friends the blunette plunged into the crowd.
Shou was jostled and hit at every turn as he forced his way toward the stage. Everyone was fighting to get closer. The violin’s solo had ended, and a girl with long blonde hair was singing her heart out. The song sounded completely out of this world to the bunny. It was simply amazing. If he hadn’t been on a mission he would have just stood there in a daze, but he was on a mission. He needed to know if the violinist on stage was Kukai or not. If not then he would just look like a fool. If it was then he would force the older boy to hang out with him. No harm would come out of finding out though.
The rabbit came to a sudden halt at the edge of the stage. The song was still going, and his golden eye was locked on the violinist. He wanted to scream, but the other boy would never be able to hear him with all the noise around him. Dull aches filled his entire body, but for once the bunny wasn’t freaking out. His mind was set on one thing, and everything else was completely irrelevant. It was just there and in his way. For once the blunette couldn’t wait for the song to end.
